The Tall Ships

I can see the tall ships coming
Across the open sea
No more will I go sailing
No more will I be free

For they put me in this prison
For revenging my own wife
For the man I took to killing
For the taking of his life

But the judge he took no mercy
Black cap upon his head
I can see the tall ships coming
But tomorrow I will be dead

She was my own true lover
And all that I could need
They found her by the harbour
As cold as cold can be

But the judge he took no mercy
To the gallows I will be led
I can see the tall ships coming
But tomorrow I will be dead

A black eyed out of towner
With blood upon his hands
Was seen to be a running
Across the dark bay sands

Well I took my gun and powder
And I took my anger too
I chased him across the shoreline
Till the skies turned midnight blue

We struggled by the water
I put a bullet in his head
I can see the tall ships coming
But tomorrow I will be dead
